DON’T FALL BACKWARDS AND STAY THE COURSE DURING THE WEEKEND

The weekend is finally here and it’s time to unwind from all the hustle and bustle of the week. Oftentimes this feeling comes with some cravings that we want to indulge. Don’t forget that taking charge of our health isn’t about counting calories or following restrictive diets but rather, making long-term successful changes. 

The weekend, vacations, and special occasions can be challenging when living a natural lifestyle if we aren’t prepared. This is why I decided to write this article with some tips and tricks to help curb those cravings and the urge to reach for those over-processed foods. These tips are especially helpful if you’re just starting out this lifestyle and could use that extra push to keep going.

  • Be consistent 

Saturdays and Sundays are just like Mondays and Wednesdays there’s no reason why they should be special and allow you to eat crap on your days off. If you’re really craving something then look for the most natural alternative so you can satisfy your urge. For example: if you’re craving something sweet try these healthy chocolate truffles with a  Banana and Cacao Smoothie which is sure to hit just the spot. 

  • Stay Active 

Go for a walk, spend the afternoon under the sun, play with your kids in the park, or go for a run. Natural Physical activity is key to balancing a healthy diet, body, and mind. 

  • Plan Ahead 

If you know you’re going to be out all day and you might get hungry, go prepared with some healthy snacks that will hold you over like this Kale chips that can be made in 5 minutes. Also, if you know you’re planning to eat out, look up places where you can assure that you will be able to eat as healthy as possible.

  • When at home- cook with the family and avoid ordering in. 

Make some easy recipes like Ground beef stuffed Zucchini, tacos or hamburgers with banana chips. 3 recipes the whole family can enjoy. 

  • Eat a Natural Breakfast 

This will help you to not feel hungry during the day as a breakfast rich in proteins keeps you full for longer. A baked vegetable omelet or a baked avocado with eggs are two protein-rich options with healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals.

  • Stay Hydrated 

Sometimes thirst can feel like hunger and give us cravings. Drink water before reaching for some food. If you don’t feel like the taste of plain water throw some lemon in for a bit of flavor. 

  • Eat before leaving the house

If you have a birthday party with your children, an event with friends, or just plan to walk around the city for the day, make sure you nourish your body well before going out and prepare snacks that will hold you over until the next meal.

  • Use Your Imagination 

For anyone who has chosen to follow a natural lifestyle, it’s very easy to fall into a routine and get bored from eating the same foods all the time. Be creative and put a fresh twist on your diet. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Doing this will help put a stop to those temptations for foods that we know are harmful to our health.
