Estimated reading time: 1 minute(s)

Who doesn’t enjoy ice cream or a refreshing cold popsicle on a hot summer day? Usually, when following a healthy natural diet, we have to give up these delicious desserts but; there’s no reason for us to do this IF we opt for natural, homemade versions. That way we avoid all the typical sugars, artificial colorings and flavorings that would normally put it on the black list.

We’ve prepared for you a super healthy version of the classic popsicle that will also surely add extra nutrients to your diet. The yogurt base of this popsicle is a great source of calcium and protein of high biological value. The fruit provides us with natural vitamins and minerals whereas the granola which is made of seeds and nuts give us energy, more protein and healthy fat

The granola is without a doubt the star ingredient in this recipe. It brings an unusual and very surprising crispy texture to what would normally be just another delicious popsicle. We’ve combined the red fruits with cacoa, coconut and quinoa which all blend well together. However, feel free to experiment with our other options.

Use your favorite fruit in this recipe. We chose strawberries and blueberries for their wonderful color and because they are two of the fruits with the lowest glycemic index, plus they are a great source of Vitamin C. Here are some other options that you might like:

  • Figs: 200 gr. They contain the same amount of calcium as 100 ml of milk. Also they’re in season at the end of summer, so you can find them easily and at a good price.
  • Banana: for a creamy texture and natural sweet taste.
  • Peach: we love its aromatic touch, in addition to being a powerful antioxidant, and a great help in strengthening our immune system.
